Gulab jamun


Sugar syrup:

2 Cups Sugar

1/2 tsp Cardamom Powder

1/4 tsp Cardamom Seeds

1 tsp Milk

5 Cups Water

1/2 tsp Saffron

Gulab Jamun:

1 1/2 Cups Khoya, grated

1 tsp Milk

1/2 Cup Maida

1/2 tsp Baking Soda

Ghee for frying

How to make sugar syrup:

1.Take water and sugar in a deep pan, stir it properly and bring it to boil on a high flame so that the sugar gets dissolved.

2.Add milk and cardamom seeds in it, boil it for some time and then strain it.

3.Now add cardamom powder, saffron and bring it to a rolling boil for another 5 to 6 minutes till it becomes little sticky.


How to make gulab jamun balls:

1.Take a deep bowl, grate khoya in it.

2.Add baking soda, maida and mix them thoroughly but gently using a spoon.

3.Add milk in it and knead a smooth and soft dough. You can add a tsp of milk more if required and make sure that the dough is a bit softer in order to avoid cracks in the ball.

4.Make round balls of equal shapes from the dough.

5.Heat ghee in a pan on a medium flame, then add the balls and deep fry them till it becomes golden brown and cooked properly.

6.Do not cook it on high flame otherwise the balls will burn.

7.Take the balls out and let it cool for some minutes then immerse them in the warm sugar syrup for at least 30 minutes.

8.You will find that the shape will get bigger as it is soaked in syrup.

Gulab jamuns are ready.
