5 leftover idlis
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 big onion, finely chopped
1 sprig curry leaves
2-3 dry red chilies
1/4 tsp split channa dal
1/4 tsp split urad dal
1/4 tsp mustard seeds
3 tsp vegetable oil
1.Take the idlis and crush it with hands into small pieces.
2.Take a deep bottomed vessel, heat oil in it, add mustard, urad, chana, red chillies and curry leaves in this order on a low flame.
3.Allow the mustard seeds to splutter and the urad dal should get golden color.
4.Once done add onion and turmeric powder and let the onion caramelize a little.
5.Now mix the idlis and salt in it. (While adding salt keep in mind that idli also has salt so add it accordingly not more).
6.Idli Upma is ready to serve.
