Kolhapuri Chicken


For Marination:

1 Kg Chicken

1 tsp Lime Juice

To taste Salt

1 tsp Garlic Paste

2 tsp Red Chilli

1 tsp Turmeric Powder

2/3 Cup Yogurt

For Kolhapur Masala:

2 tsp Corn or Peanut Oil

1 tsp Coriander Leaves

2 tsp Oil

1 Large Tomato, chopped

2 tsp Coconut, grated

2 Medium Onions, chopped

1/2 tsp Black Pepper (crushed)

6 Cloves

2 Cinnamon Sticks

1 Bay Leaf

Kolhapuri Chicken

How to make Kolhapuri Chicken:


1.Wash the chicken properly and drain the water thoroughly.

2.For marination take chicken in a bowl, add red chillies, salt, garlic paste, turmeric powder, curd, lime juice, mix it and keep it aside for half an hour.

Kolhapur masala:

1.Take a pan, heat oil in it, then add bay leaf, crushed black pepper, cloves, cinnamon, chopped onions, saute it till the onions becomes translucent.

2.Then add the grated coconut in it and saute it till the color of the coconut changes.

3.Now add tomatoes, cook it for 10 minutes. Let the mixture cool, then blend the mixture to form a puree.

Kolhapuri chicken:

1.Heat oil in a pan, add the marinated chicken in it and allow it cook for 25 minutes on a low flame. Stir it regularly in between.

2.Then add the Kolhapur masala paste and let it simmer on a low flame for another 5 minutes.

3.Once done the Kolhapur Chicken is ready. Garnish it with coriander leaves and serve it hot with rice.
